Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of this website and to all purchases made through Oil Tank Supermarket.
By using this website, placing an order, requesting a quote, submitting an enquiry, or purchasing any product or service from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Payments and Returns Policy, and any other policies referred to on this website.
Oil Tank Supermarket is operated by Oil Tanks Supermarket Limited, company number 13698791.
In these Terms and Conditions:
“we”, “us”, “our” and “the Company” means Oil Tanks Supermarket Limited.
“you”, “your” and “Customer” means the person, business, organisation, or entity purchasing from us or using our website.
“Goods” means any products supplied by us, including but not limited to oil tanks, bunded oil tanks, steel oil tanks, single skin oil tanks, fire-rated tanks, diesel tanks, AdBlue tanks, water tanks, waste oil tanks, pumps, gauges, fittings, accessories and related items.
“Services” means any additional services we may arrange, quote for, introduce, or provide, including installation, removal, disposal, fabrication, surveys, advice, or related works.
2. About Oil Tank Supermarket
Oil Tank Supermarket supplies a wide range of oil tanks and related products, including plastic oil tanks, steel oil tanks, bunded oil tanks, single skin oil tanks, fire protected tanks, diesel tanks, water tanks, tank accessories, gauges, fittings and related equipment.
Our website presents Oil Tank Supermarket as an online supplier of oil tanks with UK delivery, up to 12 years warranty on selected products, and optional installation services after purchase.
We aim to provide accurate product information, clear pricing and reliable delivery. However, it remains the customer’s responsibility to ensure that any product selected is suitable for the intended use, site, location, capacity, installation environment and legal requirements.
3. Website Use
You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes.
You must not use this website in any way that:
interferes with the operation, security or availability of the website;
attempts to gain unauthorised access to any system, account or data;
introduces viruses, malware, spam, scraping tools or harmful code;
misrepresents your identity or your authority to act on behalf of another person or organisation;
infringes any copyright, trademark, database right, privacy right or other legal right.
We may suspend or restrict access to the website where we reasonably believe misuse, attempted fraud, unauthorised activity, technical abuse, or unlawful conduct has occurred.
4. Product Information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, images, prices, dimensions, capacities, delivery information and availability are accurate.
However, product images are for illustration only and may vary slightly from the actual product. Minor variations in colour, finish, fittings, moulding marks, dimensions, weight, manufacturing tolerances, branding, accessories or design may occur.
Oil tanks and related products may also vary due to manufacturer updates, production changes, stock availability, model improvements, or changes to supplied fittings.
You should check all product details carefully before ordering. If any specification is critical, including tank dimensions, capacity, base size, access route, outlet position, fire rating, bunding, usage, material, orientation, or compatibility, you should contact us before placing your order.
5. Product Suitability
It is your responsibility to ensure that the product you order is suitable for your intended use.
This includes checking:
the required capacity;
available space;
access route;
base requirements;
tank location;
fire separation distances;
building, boundary, flue, opening, drain and watercourse proximity;
installation requirements;
oil line and boiler compatibility;
local site conditions;
legal and regulatory requirements;
whether a bunded, single skin, steel, plastic or fire protected tank is required.
UK oil storage rules place responsibility on the person responsible for the property or premises, such as the homeowner, business owner or site manager, to comply with applicable oil storage requirements.
For domestic oil storage, GOV.UK states that you should choose an installer registered with a competent person scheme, as they can self-certify compliance with building regulations. If you do not use a competent person scheme installer, you may need to contact Building Control and arrange and pay for inspection yourself.
We may provide general product guidance, but such guidance does not replace professional site assessment, competent installer advice, building control advice, OFTEC guidance, environmental requirements, or legal compliance checks.
6. Orders
When you place an order through the website, you are making an offer to purchase the Goods in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
An order is not accepted until we confirm acceptance, dispatch the Goods, or otherwise confirm that the order is being processed.
We reserve the right to reject, cancel or refund an order where:
the product is unavailable;
the price or description was incorrect;
there has been a technical error;
delivery is not possible to your location;
payment has not been received or has been reversed;
the order appears fraudulent, suspicious, duplicated or unauthorised;
the product is unsuitable or unsafe for the stated purpose;
we are unable to fulfil the order due to supplier, courier, manufacturer or stock issues.
If we cancel an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the amount paid for the cancelled item, unless we are entitled to deduct any amount under these Terms or applicable law.
7. Prices
Prices shown on the website are displayed in pounds sterling.
Prices may be shown inclusive and/or exclusive of VAT depending on the website display, product category or customer context. The final payable amount will be shown at checkout before payment is completed.
We reserve the right to amend prices at any time. Price changes will not affect orders already accepted, except where there has been an obvious pricing error.
If a product has been listed at an incorrect price due to an error, we may cancel the order and refund you, or contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price.
8. Payment
Payment must be made in full at the time of order unless we agree otherwise in writing.
We may accept payment by card, PayPal, bank transfer, finance option or other payment methods made available on the website. Oil Tank Supermarket’s website indicates that payment methods include Opayo, Mastercard, Visa and PayPal.
Orders will not usually be processed, dispatched or confirmed for delivery until payment has cleared.
Where payment is made by bank transfer, your order may be delayed until cleared funds are received.
You must ensure that all payment information supplied is accurate and that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
9. Delivery
We will deliver the Goods to the delivery address provided at checkout or confirmed in writing.
Delivery times are estimates only. Any delivery date or time given is not guaranteed unless expressly agreed in writing.
Oil Tank Supermarket promotes free UK delivery to mainland England and Wales, except Highlands and Islands, and refers to delivery coverage for England, Wales, Southern and Central Scotland. Delivery availability, costs and restrictions may vary depending on product type, delivery location, courier arrangements, manufacturer dispatch, vehicle access and site conditions.
Delivery may be affected by:
stock availability;
manufacturer lead times;
courier availability;
vehicle access;
weather;
road restrictions;
bank holidays;
remote locations;
incorrect customer details;
failed contact attempts;
force majeure events;
delays outside our control.
We are not liable for delivery delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
10. Delivery Access and Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring that the delivery address is accurate, accessible and suitable for delivery.
You must notify us before delivery if there are any access restrictions, including:
narrow roads;
low bridges;
weight limits;
steep slopes;
gravel tracks;
gated access;
restricted turning areas;
private roads;
building sites;
stairs;
limited parking;
low branches;
overhead cables;
soft ground;
restricted delivery hours;
requirement for lifting equipment or extra labour.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, delivery is normally to the nearest safe and accessible point at the delivery address. Drivers are not required to move products through buildings, over walls, across unsuitable ground, into final installation position, or to any location considered unsafe.
If delivery cannot be completed due to access issues, incorrect information, customer absence, refusal of delivery, or site unsuitability, you may be charged for redelivery, storage, failed delivery, return transport or associated costs.
11. Risk and Ownership
Risk in the Goods passes to you when the Goods are delivered to the delivery location, signed for, left in accordance with agreed delivery instructions, or otherwise made available at the delivery address.
Ownership of the Goods passes to you only once we have received payment in full for the Goods and any associated charges.
Until ownership passes, you must not sell, transfer, dispose of, damage, alter, install, use or encumber the Goods without our consent.
12. Inspection on Delivery
You should inspect the Goods as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If the Goods arrive visibly damaged, you should note the damage with the driver where possible, take photographs, retain all packaging and notify us promptly.
You should not install, modify, fill, use, connect or alter a product that you believe may be damaged, faulty, incorrect or incomplete.
Failure to inspect the Goods promptly may affect our ability to resolve delivery damage claims with couriers, manufacturers or suppliers.
13. Returns and Cancellations
If you are a consumer purchasing online, you may have the right to cancel your order within 14 days after delivery, subject to applicable exclusions.
GOV.UK guidance for online and distance selling states that businesses must tell customers they can cancel an order up to 14 days after delivery and that customers do not need to give a reason for cancelling. Business Companion guidance also states that consumers should send goods back within 14 days of telling the trader they wish to cancel, and that the consumer pays return costs unless the trader has agreed to pay them, provided the trader gave the required return-cost information.
Oil Tank Supermarket’s existing Returns and Cancellations page states that consumers are entitled to cancel/return from payment up to 14 days after goods have been delivered.
Returned Goods must be unused, unfitted, uninstalled, unmodified, undamaged, clean, complete and in resaleable condition, with all parts, accessories, instructions and packaging where applicable.
You are responsible for the cost and safe return of Goods unless the Goods are faulty, damaged, misdescribed, or we have agreed otherwise.
Due to the size, weight and specialist nature of many products, including oil tanks and steel tanks, return transport costs may be significant.
14. Non-returnable and Special Order Products
Certain Goods may not be eligible for cancellation or return unless faulty, including:
made-to-measure products;
custom fabricated products;
bespoke steel tanks;
special order items;
modified products;
products manufactured to your specification;
products installed, used, filled, connected, altered or damaged after delivery;
products that cannot be returned safely or hygienically;
products affected by contamination, fuel, oil, water, sludge, chemicals or other substances.
No refund will be given for Goods manufactured to your specification unless they are faulty, damaged, misdescribed, or otherwise required by law.
15. Refunds
Where a refund is due, we will process it using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
We may withhold a refund until the Goods have been returned or until you provide evidence that the Goods have been sent back.
We may reduce the refund where Goods have been handled beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning, or where they are returned damaged, incomplete, used, installed, altered or not in resaleable condition.
Original delivery charges, collection costs, failed delivery charges, return transport costs, restocking costs for business customers, and other recoverable costs may be deducted where permitted by law and these Terms.
16. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods
If Goods are faulty, damaged on delivery, incorrect, or not as described, you should contact us promptly with your order number, photographs, description of the issue and any relevant evidence.
Consumer goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Where Goods are faulty or do not conform to the contract, we will deal with the matter in accordance with your legal rights. This may include repair, replacement, refund, collection, manufacturer assessment or other appropriate remedy depending on the circumstances.
You must not continue to use, install, fill, modify or repair Goods after discovering a fault unless we have agreed this in writing.
17. Warranty
Products may be supplied with a manufacturer warranty. Warranty periods and terms vary by manufacturer, product type, material, usage, installation conditions and registration requirements.
Oil Tank Supermarket promotes up to 12 years warranty on selected products. Any warranty claim may require proof of purchase, correct installation, warranty registration, maintenance records, photographs, serial numbers, manufacturer inspection, or evidence that the product has been used and installed correctly.
Manufacturer warranties do not usually cover:
incorrect installation;
unsuitable base;
misuse;
accidental damage;
impact damage;
movement after installation;
alteration or modification;
incorrect fittings;
poor maintenance;
fair wear and tear;
failure to follow manufacturer instructions;
damage caused by third-party contractors;
contamination;
fire, flood, storm, frost or environmental damage;
use outside the product’s intended purpose.
Your statutory rights are not affected by any manufacturer warranty.
18. Installation, Removal and Third-Party Services
Oil Tank Supermarket may offer, arrange, quote for, refer, introduce or facilitate installation, removal, disposal, steel fabrication, survey or related services.
Where we introduce you to an installer, contractor, engineer or third-party service provider, we may need to share relevant information with them so they can contact you, assess the site, quote for the work or carry out the service.
This may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, order details and brief details of your enquiry or requirements. Our Privacy Policy explains our approach to personal information collection, use and disclosure.
Unless we expressly confirm otherwise in writing, installation, removal, disposal, groundworks, fire barrier works, pipework, electrical works, plumbing, boiler connection, base construction, making good, lifting equipment and additional site preparation are not included in the product price.
Any installation or service quote should be read carefully to understand what is included and excluded.
19. Site Conditions, Hidden Works and Additional Costs
Oil Tank Supermarket accepts no liability for any hidden, unforeseen or additional costs arising from alterations, adaptations, preparation works, remedial works, repairs, structural changes, base construction or modification, fire protection works, pipework changes, plumbing works, electrical works, groundworks, access works, drainage works, underground services, making good, or other modifications undertaken in the vicinity of the oil tank, diesel tank, water tank, pipework, boiler, building, boundary, garden, driveway, commercial premises or surrounding property, unless such costs are caused directly by our negligence or by a breach of your statutory rights.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the site, access route, tank base, surrounding area, existing pipework, building structure, services, drainage, boundaries and any required permissions are suitable for the agreed delivery, installation, removal, replacement or related works.
Where additional works are required to make the delivery, installation, removal or replacement compliant, safe, accessible, or suitable, these may be quoted and charged separately unless they have already been expressly included in the written quotation.
Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights.
20. Compliance, Regulations and Customer Responsibility
Oil tanks, diesel tanks, fuel tanks and related equipment may be subject to legal, environmental, building control, fire safety, pollution prevention, insurance, planning, commercial, agricultural or industry-specific requirements.
You are responsible for ensuring that the Goods are suitable and compliant for your property, site and intended use.
This may include checking:
Building Regulations;
oil storage regulations;
environmental protection requirements;
fire separation distances;
secondary containment requirements;
commercial storage rules;
agricultural storage rules;
watercourse, drain and boundary risks;
insurance requirements;
manufacturer installation instructions;
OFTEC or competent person guidance;
local authority or Building Control requirements.
GOV.UK states that the person responsible for the property or premises is usually legally responsible for the oil storage container.
We do not accept liability for your failure to obtain permissions, inspections, approvals, site assessments, professional advice, or regulatory sign-off unless we expressly agreed in writing to provide that service.
21. Customer Measurements and Specifications
Where you provide measurements, specifications, drawings, photographs, access details, site descriptions or other information, you are responsible for ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
We are not responsible for errors caused by inaccurate, incomplete or misleading customer information.
If Goods are ordered based on incorrect measurements or unsuitable customer specifications, you may be responsible for return costs, replacement costs, restocking charges, redelivery charges, additional labour, storage charges or other associated costs.
22. Business Customers
If you purchase as a business, trade customer, commercial operator, landlord, installer, contractor, reseller, farm, organisation, local authority or other non-consumer customer, you confirm that you are not purchasing as a consumer.
Business customers are responsible for checking that Goods are suitable for their intended commercial, industrial, agricultural or professional use.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, all warranties, conditions and terms implied by statute or common law are excluded for business customers except as expressly stated in these Terms.
Business customers may be subject to restocking charges, administration charges, return delivery charges and manufacturer charges where Goods are returned, cancelled, refused, incorrectly ordered, or no longer required.
23. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
defective products under applicable product safety law;
breach of statutory rights where such exclusion would be unlawful;
any matter for which it would be unlawful to exclude or restrict liability.
Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for:
loss of profit;
loss of business;
loss of revenue;
loss of goodwill;
loss of opportunity;
loss of anticipated savings;
business interruption;
indirect or consequential loss;
costs caused by unsuitable site conditions;
costs caused by third-party contractors;
costs caused by incorrect installation;
costs caused by customer misuse, alteration or failure to follow instructions;
costs arising from hidden, unforeseen or additional works not included in the contract.
Subject to your statutory rights, our total liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Goods or contract shall not exceed the price paid for the Goods giving rise to the claim.
24. Misuse, Installation Errors and Alterations
We are not liable for defects, damage, failure, leaks, instability, contamination, regulatory issues or safety risks caused by:
incorrect installation;
unsuitable base;
incorrect pipework;
incorrect fittings;
use of incompatible accessories;
poor maintenance;
customer negligence;
third-party negligence;
relocation after installation;
impact damage;
overfilling;
use for unsuitable substances;
alteration or repair without approval;
failure to follow manufacturer instructions;
failure to comply with applicable regulations.
Any product that has been modified, installed incorrectly, damaged, contaminated, filled or used in a way not recommended by the manufacturer may not be eligible for return, refund or warranty support unless required by law.
25. Force Majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure to perform our obligations where caused by events outside our reasonable control.
This includes, but is not limited to:
extreme weather;
floods;
fires;
strikes;
transport disruption;
supplier delays;
manufacturer delays;
shortage of materials;
energy supply disruption;
pandemics;

Where a force majeure event affects an order, we will contact you where reasonably possible and may arrange a new delivery date, offer an alternative, or cancel and refund the affected order.
